"I wish to thank you and your company for repairing the sub-standard work on the roofs of the Brandy Distillery at Worcester and the wine store at KWV Upington
respectively. The sub-standard work was done by others.

The Brandy Distillery at Worcester is a high profile tourist attraction. The
ineffectiveness of the previous thermal roof coating (due to product dilution) caused major embarrass-ment for KWV. The first hot days of summer have just passed and
the tour guides remarked on the pleasant cool conditions inside the distillery.

The Wine Store at Upington is used to store wine for sale to KWV members. Due to the high summer temperatures, the heat affected the quality of the wine and at times
dislodged the corks in the bottles.

The temperature inside and outside the store is being monitored. At an ambient temperature of between 37° C - 40° C, the temperature inside the store remained between 25° C - 27° C. (+- 33 %) This is a remarkable improvement and worthy of mention.
From the above it is clear that the Ceratech roof coating has solved the heat problems in 2 major KWV facilities.

The Ceramic Heat Barrier Coating is a water- borne emulsion of high quality resins and plasticizers for superior adhesion for any type of roof. It dries by evaporation to yield a tough, velvety, water repellent surface with exceptional abrasion resistance, ultra-violet light stability and superior mildew resistance. It is formulated for non-metal and metal roofs and is warranted to hold occasional ponding water without deterioration.

Unlike other coatings, it contains ceramic particles. These particles are the heat dissipating elements in the ceramic coating that give it the ability to save on cooling costs. It is applied to yield a tough, watertight, roof membrane.

APPLICATION

Surfaces should be clean, dry and sound. Existing surface dirt, oil, tar, grease and mill film should be removed prior to application. The Ceramic Heat Barrier Coating may be applied to other surfaces. Examples are wood or masonry, after following preparation procedures above and in the specification manual. It is recommended that flat roofs should have some type of drain system.

The Ceramic Heat Barrier Coating can be applied by brush or roller. It should be applied evenly without build up. Multiple coats are recommended to a total wet film thickness of 500 micron (0,5mm). See our Coverage Calculation page.

MIXING

Before applying our product, the coating needs to be mixed thoroughly to insure that all chemical / non-chemical components are well dispersed. Under no circumstances can our product be mixed with a mechanical or electric device exceeding 200 RPM mixing over the recommended speed of 200 RPM will damage certain particles, prohibiting the product from functioning to specifications. Ideal mixing should be done with a plunger or a flat paddle before every application.

PRECAUTIONS

Do not ingest. Avoid eye contact. If solution does come in contact with eyes, flush immediately with water and contact physician for medical attention. Avoid prolonged contact with skin or breathing or spray mist. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. KEEP FROM FREEZING.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE INFO / FIRST AID

Inhalation: Move subject to fresh air.
Eye Contact: Flush eyes with large amount of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult Physician if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Wash affected skin areas thoroughly with soap and water. Consult a physician if irritation persists.
Ingestion: If swallowed, give 2 glasses of water to drink.

Personal Protection Appropriate protective equipment must be worn when handling spills. If exposed to material during clean-up operations, see FIRST AID INFO above.

Procedures: Keep spectators away. Floor may be slippery, use care to falling. Contain spills immediately with inert materials. (e.g. sand, earth). Transfer liquids and solid diking material to separate suitable containers for recovery or disposal.

The health effects of this product have not been tested. The following information is based on the hazards of its components.

Inhalation of vapour or mist may cause headache, nausea, slight irritation of nose, throat and lungs. Prolonged or repeated skin contact can cause slight skin irritation.

REACTIVITY INFORMATION

This material is considered stable. Avoid temperatures above 177 C, the onset of polymerdecomposition. Thermal decomposition is dependant on time and temperature. Product will not undergo polymerization. This product should not come in contact with solvent borne materials.

PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES

Respiratory Protection: None required under normal operating conditions. When mist occurs during spraying operations, wear a MSHA/NIOSH – approved (or equivalent) disposable half mask dust/mist respirator. Eye Protection Use chemical splash goggles(ANSI Z87.1 or approved equivalent).

Hand Protection: The gloves listed below may provide protection against permeation. Gloves of other chemically resistant materials may not provide adequate protection: Neoprene.

Storage Conditions Keep from freezing: material may coagulate. The minimum Recommended storage temp. for this material is 1°C/34°F. The maximum temp. for this material is 49°C/120°F.

Acute Data: The information shown in the HEALTH EFFECTS FROM OVEREXPOSURE Section is based on the toxicity profiles for a number of acrylic emulsions that are compositionally similar to this product.

WASTE DISPOSAL

Procedure Coagulate the emulsion by the stepwise addition of ferric chloride and lime. Remove the clear supernatant and flush to a chemical sewer. Incinerate liquid and contaminated solids in accordance with the local, regulations.

None of the compounds used in this product is listed as potential carcinogen by OSHA. This product is considered non-hazardous under the OSHA Hazard Communication. Standard 92,9CFR 1910.1200). CERCLA INFORMATION (40CFR 302.4)

Release of this material to air, land, or water are not reportable to the National Response Centre under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) or to state and local emergency planning committees under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act. SARA Title III Section 304.

RCRA INFORMATION

When this product becomes a waste, it is classified as a non-hazardous waste under Criteria of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (40CFR 261).
